Hey, I'm Flash. How do you like me so far?

As you can probably see, I write for many fandoms. I tend to obsess over certain ones, while others I just try on for size then stop writing for. My obsessions wax and wane, so it takes me awhle to get WIPs done, but I do finish all of them! I promise!

Anyway, that's me. I've written quite a few, see if you like any. :D

Last Thoughts by Maryilee
Chapter 1: Last Thoughts (Reviewed: 05 Nov 2008)

The end of this has a nice impact, the way you end the word abruptly in the middle instead of finishing it or trailing off. Furthermore, the entire story has a sort of..."edge of your seat" feel to it. The way you've written it really keeps the readers on their toes, wanting desperately to know what comes next.

Author's Response: Thanks Flash!

The Color of Pain by Maryilee
Chapter 1: The Color of Pain (Reviewed: 30 Aug 2008)

Wow. This is intense, Maryilee. There's so much in this short piece, and it's very powerful. Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks, Flash. :-)

Those Who Prey: A Story of the Shadow World by Draven-uk
Chapter 1: Those Who Prey: A Story of the Shadow World (Reviewed: 18 Jul 2009)

This is fantastic. So intense and packed with emotion and action and everything. It's really interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat. Quite an interesting world you've crafted. Great work!

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. Yeah, the emotion is important to me in these stories. Thanks. :)

Those Left Behind by darsynia
Chapter 1: Those Left Behind (Reviewed: 16 Sep 2008)

You capture all the voices in this so well, Darsy. I can really hear (and see) Rodney and John, and the included Ancient text is...well, Ancient sounding, lol.

This is such a great piece. Love it!

Author's Response: Thank you! This was my first SGA story and Epiphany really drew it out of me, I think. Now, if they only would have named that stupid planet... grr.

Speaking In Tongues by darsynia
Chapter 1: Speaking In Tongues (Reviewed: 07 Sep 2008)

I love it, Darsy! This is so great...gah.

My favourite bit is at the end when Jack leaves. There's so much hinted there, but it's still so heartbreaking at the same time. Poor Daniel...

I really don't have much besides that to say...although, I wouldn't say 'no' if you decided to continue this ;) Great work!

Lena Letting Go: A Story of the Shadow World by Draven-uk
Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Coming home (Reviewed: 19 Jul 2009) starstarstarstarstar

this is intense and intriguing. I love the world you've built, and I can't help but feel bad for Lena (and Matt). Great work!

Author's Response: Many thanks. I'm glad you're intruiged by this story. It is actually a prequel to a werewolf novel I've been writing for a while now.

The Man I Thought I Knew by OrdinaryMiracle
Chapter 1: The Man I Thought I Knew (Reviewed: 07 Sep 2008)

Aw, this is so sweet. Poor least Trust Metric opened up many opportunities for fluffy fics :) Nice work!

Author's Response:

Yeah it did.  I can't wait for season 5 to start!  I want to see how Charlie handles not being in the mix of things.

Lesson In Logic by karracaz
Chapter 1: Lesson In Logic (Reviewed: 05 Nov 2008)

I love the insight you give into Sarek and Spock's relationship here, particularly as it nears the end and we see how Sarek deems it appropriate to deal with Spock's actions. I particularly like the last line, Sarek's admittance that he is indeed proud of his son despite the boy's actions.

Christmas Spirits by epalladino
Chapter 1: Christmas Spirits (Reviewed: 09 Nov 2008)

This is a sweet story, Beth. You have a way of capturing the calm moments in Hellboy's life, the ones that don't make it to the comics pages, and bringing them to life in believable manner. Great work!

Author's Response: Hellboy, in the comics, doesn't have much of a chance for calm moments, poor guy. Yet, he is often shown as being nostalgic for a past that did have its share of calm moments before his father's death and Armageddon began to threaten. This story was fun to write and I'm glad you liked it. Thanks, Beth

Regret by BSGfan
Chapter 1: Chapter 1 (Reviewed: 03 Nov 2008)

There's a lot of emotion in this, particularly in the last few lines. Indeed, I love the last three lines the most, there's something poetic in them...nice work!

Author's Response: Thank you, I am glad you liked it. :)

Flowers for who? by Anna-wa
Chapter 1: Flowers for who? (Reviewed: 17 Oct 2008) star

This is an interesting idea, Anna, and it has a lot of potential, but it needs more. It's too short to really get a feel for it, and stories about relationships, particularly of the taboo kind, tend to need more work to be believable.

I can sort of buy Megan kissing Drake if only to freak him out/if she had a dasterdly plan that involved it, but I can't see Drake taking it as an invitation for him to kiss her. He'd probably be freaked out and wonder what she was, well, really I don't think this story is IC for either of them.

Now, as you mention, this is incest. The thing about that is: there's a reson it's taboo/frowned upon. Most incestuous relationships aren't healthy. There's power issues, control issues, and a whole lot more that needs to be addressed. That isn't to say that healthy incestuous relationships aren't possible, they're just not as common.

With that in mind, as an author, it's your job to make this relationship believable, whether you're aiming for healthy or not.  As it stands, there isn't enough here for it to be believable, particularly for someone who's seen the show.

You need more description, more emotion, especially since people tend to be VERY CONFLICTED if they start having romantic and/or sexual feelings for their siblings.

It's an interesting idea, though not a pairing I'd ever think of, but the story itself is far too short and doesn't have enough emotional depth to be believable.

Very ineresting. I'm quite intrigued and looking forward to more.

Devils in the Dark by jamestkirkesq
Chapter 3: The Ghosts That Haunt Us... (Reviewed: 22 Jul 2009) starstarstarstarhalf-star

I really enjoyed this. It starts out so simply, so routine, and turns dark. And the ending is just heartbreaking. Nice work!

Kid Stuff by MacBeth
Chapter 1: Kid Stuff (Reviewed: 18 Apr 2009)

Haha, this is great. I love the reflection back to his mom's reaction to his curiosity, and the connection to that curiosity helping him now. Nice work!

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. It's entertaining trying to envision just how much of a handful young Mac must have been. Credit where credit is due: it was partly inspired by this drabble of Lothithil's:

Accidental Hero by girlwithoutfear
Chapter 4: Chapter 4 (Reviewed: 20 Jul 2009) starstarstarstarstar

This is really fantastic. I love the exploration of Matt's emotions as he deals with what's happened to him, particularly as he gets used to "seeing" the world in a different way. I love the way you describe what he hears and smells and feels, you do a really great job of showing how the loss of eyesight strengthened his other senses. Great work, I look forward to more!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! This part of Matt's story got so glossed over in the original series that I felt there was room to flesh it out. Stan Lee had Matt go from normal nerdy school boy to wunderkind in about four panels in the first issue. I especially have to laugh about how he could "get any book in braille from the library", since that is so patently untrue even today. I hope you enjoy this story as it unfolds, and the sequel I'm working on now.
